ASEF Unplugged: Conversations on the Arts in Asia and Europe - What makes an arts manager a cultural leader?

Start: 2019-08-22 08:00
End: 2019-08-22 08:45
Location: Festival Theatre
Place: Edinburgh
Fee: Free
In partnership with Visiting Arts, the Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) organises an ASEF Unplugged in Edinburgh, United Kingdom on the topic of cultural leadership. This conversation will feature 2 directors of cultural leadership programmes from Asia & Europe.

As Arts Management Network has rightly observed in a recent issue of Arts Management Quarterly, cultural leadership is the talk of the town, with many courses, fellowships and capacity building programmes mushrooming in the last years. It is in this context that ASEF Unplugged-Edinburgh invites you to a conversation with Hilary Carty, Director of Clore Leadership Programme and Pooja Sood, Director, JKCC and founder of ArtThinkSouthAsia training programme for arts managers as part of the Visiting Arts International Producers’ Breakfast (VAPB) in Edinburgh, United Kingdom.

The organisers hope to interrogate the many questions around leadership with these two pioneers in the field: What is cultural leadership? Is the notion purely western as often claimed? Are cultural leaders born or made? What skills and competencies set a leader apart in today’s complex workplace? How best can emerging leaders be supported?

The conversation will be moderated by Anupama Sekhar, Director for Culture at Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF).
