Managing the impact of the financial crisis in Europe

Following the tradition of engaging each year in a major policy debate, ENCATC, in close partnership with the Universiteit Antwerpen/Antwerp Management School, Master Cultuurmanagement will be organising this year in Brussels on the 7th of July 2011 the European debate Opportunities of crisis: Managing the impact of the financial crisis in Europe, designing innovative strategies and forecasting possible futures.
The purpose of this event is to debate what the crisis ultimately means for policy-makers, leaders and managers in the cultural sector. This policy debate is implemented in close partnership with the Universiteit Antwerpen/Antwerp Management School, Master Cultuurmanagement. It follows the ENCATC tradition of engaging each year in a major policy debate. The event is expected to gather about 50 participants, from Europe and beyond (AIMAC participants). It is meant for policy-makers, leaders and managers in the cultural sector, artists, academic, researchers and anyone interested in this topic.
The debate will start with a keynote on Europe 2020 strategy of smart, sustainable and inclusive growth as a tool for confronting global economic challenges delivered by Karel De Gucht, Europes trade Commissioner. The keynote is to be followed by a round table moderated by journalist, Chantal Pattyn, allowing a more in-depth discussion.
Panelists in the round table include Jean-Pierre Baeyens, holder of the Marketing Chair, Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management; Jan Briers, President, Federation of Music Festivals in Flanders; General Manager, Flanders Festival Brussels-Ghent; Fançois Colbert, Chair in the Arts Management, ICHEC Montreal; Anita Debaere, Director at Pearle*; Fabio Donato, ENCATC Board member, Lecturer, University of Ferrara; Paul Dujardin, General Manager, Centre for Fine Arts of Brussels; Julek Jurowicz, Managing Director, SMartBe; Anne Krebs, Head of Studies and Research Department, Louvre Museum; and Sylvain Pasqua, Administrator, DG Education and Culture, Unit Culture.
The debate will be followed by a lunch (13h30 14h30) to allow the discussion to continue in a less formal setting. (Lunch at participants own expense.)
