Katherine Watson new Director of ECF

The European Cultural Foundation is delighted to announce that the Board of ECF has appointed Katherine Watson as the Foundation's new Director. The decision was taken during ECF's Board meeting in Brussels on June 1st. Katherine has been ECF's Acting Director since November 2009. During this period, she and the ECF staff have successfully implemented ECF's new content programmes. Katherine looks forward to continuing to lead the Foundation with her unique energy and vision.
Before joining ECF, Katherine lived and worked in both Canada and Europe. She joined ECF in 2006 as Director of our online partner initiative, the multi-lingual cultural information and networking platform, LabforCulture.org.

Katherine brings a solid and diverse international experience going back 35 years, combining interdisciplinary art productions with advocacy, research, policy and programme development for non-profit arts organisations as well as governments.
Her strong leadership experience encompasses various posts as director, manager, fund developer, arts adviser and jury member, and chair of several boards. She is also currently a member of the governing board of the European Foundation Centre in which ECF plays an active part. Above all, she likes to be seen as a 'connector' of people and ideas and a 'deviser' of innovative interdisciplinary projects.
Wolfgang Petritsch, Chair of the ECF Board, remarked on the appointment of Katherine: "We are very happy to welcome Katherine Watson as the new Director of ECF. Together with the strong team in place we are confident that she will translate her firm belief that culture is one of the key ingredients for cultural cohesion in Europe into strong actions that truly make a difference."
