CfP: Mobility First! ASEF Cultural Mobility Initiative 2017

Cultural mobility is integral to the practice and career of artists and cultural professionals in Asia and Europe. However, securing funding to finance international travel remains a major challenge, particularly in the Asia-Asia and Asia-Europe contexts. It is in this context that the Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) is launching Mobility First!, a new fund to support the travel of Asian and European artists and cultural professionals between Asia and Europe. Deadline for applications is 15 September 2017.

Mobility First! ASEF Cultural Mobility Initiative is being launched in 2017 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of ASEF. Mobility First! builds on ASEFs support to mobility over the last 20 years.

Goals:

  • Support and increase the bi-directional mobility of artists and cultural professionals between Asia & Europe; and,
  • Support opportunities for people-to-people encounters that will form the basis of long-term alliances among Asian and European artists and arts organisations.
In the field of culture, ASEF promotes various forms of cultural co-operation between Asia and Europe, including artistic collaborations, bi-regional networks and policy dialogue. In addition to fostering sustainable partnerships between Asian and European arts organisations, ASEF also facilitates dialogue between the arts sector and government agencies responsible for culture.

Applications from individuals and arts organisations are invited at least 10 weeks in advance of the event for which mobility support is being sought. Selection is through competitive open calls please refer to the documents section of this page for the Call.

The application process is on a rolling basis. A total of up to 10 selected artists, cultural professionals, & organisations will be announced every first week of the month from May until October 2017 (6 rounds).

The deadline for 2017 applications is 15 September 2017.
