A workshop for young researchers will take place on the morning of June 21st 2016 just ahead of the commencement of 19th biennial conference of the Association for Cultural Economics International (ACEI). The workshop provides an opportunity for conference delegates who are graduate students (at masters and PhD level) to discuss their dissertations, publication plans and job market issues amongst themselves and with other more experienced scholars who share an interest in questions surrounding economic aspects of culture.

Víctor Fernández-Blanco (University of Oviedo, Spain) will organize the workshop and members of the Executive Board of the ACEI will participate.

Interested graduate students should please send their CVs and a 1-page abstract of their dissertation project (12 point font), indicating at which stage they are at (pre or post-proposal defence), their institutional affiliation and title of their graduate program, as well as what type of job they envisage after graduation (academic, government, consulting, and if academic in which discipline), to YRWchair.acei2016@uva.es by January 31st, 2016.

Applicants will be informed of whether they have been allocated a place at the workshop by March 1st 2016.

ACEI funding support is available to assist attendance for a small number of workshop participants. Applicants who require such support should please submit a short cover letter with their applications, explaining why such assistance is needed and specifying their expected travel and accommodation costs in Valladolid. Where support is granted, this will take the form of reimbursement against receipts of up to $500 for travel and accommodation costs. In addition, please note that the ACEI will support a maximum of one subsidized attendance at a Young Researchers Workshop per individual.

Since the purpose of the workshop is to support early stage researchers, please note that priority is given to young researchers who do not have a paper accepted for the main conference.

If you have a paper accepted for the main ACEI conference, please remember that the Presidents Prize recognizes the best paper from a PhD student or a young postgraduate (less than 35 years old) presented at the conference. It entails an expedited process for publication in the Journal of Cultural Economics. Young Researchers` Workshop participants are also encouraged to apply for President`s Prize.

ACEI is a scientific society of around 150 members including academic scholars, government officials, foundation officials, managers of arts and cultural organizations and artists who share an interest in furthering understanding of the economic aspects of the arts and culture in their own countries and throughout the world. It holds international conferences every two years, sponsors small conferences, workshops, and sessions concerned with cultural economics at meetings of other scientific societies. It also sponsors the Journal of Cultural Economics and other publications.
