Call for Applications – Researcher Meeting and Event Clinic for researchers and professionals in the cultural production field
International Summer Seminar Pori Jazz for Professionals is aimed at researchers and professionals in the cultural production field. The Summer Seminar will take place during the largest jazz festival in Europe on 20–22 July 2010 at the University Consortium of Pori Finland. The seminar will focus on issues in cultural production, creative economy and experience management. The researcher meeting and the event clinic will be part of the Summer Seminar programme.
Call for Projects:
Event Clinic, 20 July 2010
You who work in the field of event production: organizers of events, entrepreneurs, old hands and new beginners. Do you or your group have a project plan or an idea for a lovely event but would still like to hear a few expert comments and tips? Do you have experience of an event that was a success or that was a success despite incredible accidents on the way?
We invite you to send a description of your project to us. Tell us what it is about, how it went and what are the issues you would like to hear more about. At the clinic we will gather a group of professionals and experts of event production who will comment on and give tips to your project. We will choose 4–5 projects to be presented at the event clinic – issues that call for a response from our group of professional experts.
Bring your event to Pori Jazz for Professionals! Please respond to the call by 1 March 2010 by sending description (approximately one page) of your project to the address mervi.luonila@tse.fi.
People chosen to present their cases at the seminar will have free participation in the three day seminar and a ticket to Pori Jazz concert at Kirjurinluoto Arena on Thursday!

Researcher Meeting, 21 July 2010
Researchers interested in event production and related issues, such as cultural production and tourism, management of creative projects, social media and marketing – old hands, new beginners, doctors and doctoral students, final thesis writers and all those interested in event production.
You have now a unique opportunity to present your research to fellow researchers and to practitioners of the field. We invite you to submit a poster for our “Practice meets research” session. The meeting is not a traditional academic seminar, but a possibility for deepening your knowledge of the field in practice, and for a mutual exchange of experience.
Send us an abstract of one sheet (max 400 words), and we will arrange intriguing thematic session with facilitated discussions. Please respond to the call by 1 March 2010 by sending your abstract to the address taina.rajanti@taik.fi.

Pori Jazz for Professionals Summer Seminar:
The Seminar offers an academic, multi-science study environment at the University Consortium of Pori during the annual Jazz Week. The Seminar programme will consist of keynote speakers, workshops and case studies, its core idea being the collaborative building of knowledge and networking. The Summer Seminar is a must-see for all those interested in cultural production, gathering together cultural managers, event producers, associations, entrepreneurs, educational institutions and researchers. Pori Jazz for Professionals Seminar is co-produced by the Creative Leadership project and the network of local and Finnish festival organizations and educational institutes.

People chosen to present their research or their cases at the seminar will have free participation in the three day seminar and a ticket to Pori Jazz concert at Kirjurinluoto Arena on Thursday! For others the seminar fee is 200 euros which includes the seminar programme and a ticket to Pori Jazz concert at Kirjurinluoto Arena.
